A Delta State High Court sitting in Kwale has sentenced two men to 10 years imprisonment for possessing cut-to-size single-barrel guns.
The convicts are Joshua Anamali, 25 years and Nelson Adoh, 30 years.
They were arrested by police officers, who were on stop-and-search duty on January 27, 2021, in Ndemili community where the exhibit was recovered from them.
Trial judge, Justice O. Enenmo, who reviewed the case of the prosecution and that of the defence, found them guilty as charged.
The court convicted and sentenced them for the offence of illegal possession of firearms.
The prosecuting counsel, Mrs. Catherine Oboreruomo, has while presenting the case of the state, said two witnesses, testified in the case against the defendants, who defended themselves.
Oboreruomo, in a chat with newsmen after the judgment, advised young people to shun crime, saying the result of crime was condemnation and destruction.
