A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Uche Nwosu, on Thursday commended President Bola Tinubu for signing an executive order directing that revenues from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited be paid directly into the Federation Account before any disbursement is made back to the national oil company.
Nwosu, who served as Chief of Staff to former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, described the directive as a landmark step towards fiscal discipline and transparency in the management of Nigeria’s oil wealth.
In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, he described the directive as “a bold and necessary fiscal reform that will deepen transparency and strengthen accountability in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
He further said that it is a great innovation, and that For years, Nigerians have demanded greater clarity in the management of petroleum revenues. By ensuring that NNPC earnings first go into the Federation Account, the President has created a framework that allows proper scrutiny and institutional oversight.
