A former Director-General of Media and Communications to Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, Salihu Yakasai, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress and formally joined the African Democratic Congress.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page today, Yakasai announced the move after consultations with family, friends, and political associates.
News men reports that Yakasai had in 2022 defected from the APC to join the Peoples Redemption Party to contest as its gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 election.
He later rejoined the ruling party.
The defection comes amid growing momentum for the ADC, which recently welcomed nine senators from various parties in mid-March 2026, positioning it as a rising force in Nigeria’s opposition politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
