A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Fortune Health Plus Initiative (FHePIn), celebrated with students of Sabol School on Monday as part of activities commemorating this year’s Children’s Day.

The students were engaged in a series of activities, like debate and quiz competitions, among others, just as the group distributed educational materials and food items to the school.

Speaking at the ceremony, the chairman of the programme and a member of the foundation, Alhaji Olatunde Abdulsamad, said it is necessary to celebrate the children, especially in this trying period.

Abdulsamad said that as a non-governmental organisation, it is trying its best to help the community so that everybody will be supported to achieve a better tomorrow.

“This is one of the ways we help society; we do normally hold programmes like this from time to time, and this is the third project we are having this year to celebrate with our children in the community.

“This is a special day for all children in the community, being Children’s Day, and that is why we are here to make the children happy; we also provide food and other necessary things for them.

“This is a private special school, and what we can do is help them in our own little way.”

Also, the school’s headmistress, Mrs Adepoju Oladunni, thanked the foundation for its gesture, saying their gifts would go a long way.

She said the significance of Children’s Day is to make children feel loved, which the organisation has achieved.
