The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress, for securing a historic seventh FIBA 2025 Women’s AfroBasket title, marking their fifth consecutive championship.
Through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh today, Akpabio praised the team’s remarkable achievement, emphasising that it underscores the exceptional capabilities and trailblasing spirit of Nigerian women in any endeavor they undertake.
In a statement celebrating the team’s success, Akpabio noted that within two weeks, Nigerian women have dominated African sports, first with the Super Falcons’ triumph and now with D’Tigress defeating Senegal in the semifinals and Mali in the finals.
He however commended the team for embodying Nigeria’s values of discipline, resilience, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence, regardless of challenges faced.
