The entire Lagos State and parts of Ogun will experience a 25-day power outage, starting from July 28, within the duration of 8am to 5pm daily power distribution companies have said. The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors confirmed that the disruption was a result of maintenance work to be carried out by the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

The TCN had earlier said that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Nigeria Independent System Operator granted it the approval for a critical infrastructure upgrade in one of its 330kV lines, the  upgrade involves the installation of Optical Ground Wire fiber cable on the Omotosho/Ikeja West 330kV transmission line, wheeling bulk power to Lagos and its environs, which starts from July 28 to August 21,

In a statement by the ANED Chief Executive Officer, Sunday Oduntan today said upon completion, the upgrade will enable full operationalization of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system, enhancing real-time monitoring and management of the power grid, assuring affected customers that normalcy would be restored within the time stated.
